Tess & Daniel
In-home sessions are a great option to document the intimate sides of pregnancy. If couples want outdoor photos, sometimes I suggest starting in the home first. Afterward, we finish the session in a second outdoor location. Pregnancy is such a beautiful experience. However, sometimes it can be a mind-F when it comes to how we feel about our bodies. On the other hand, it’s amazing to be able to go back and appreciate the changes your body experiences. Even if at the time, we’re not feeling our best.
I’ve been photographing Tess and Daniel since their engagement session in 2018. They’ve since gotten married and are now expecting their first baby. Initially when I spoke to Tess about her pregnancy, we had planned to shoot their maternity session outdoors. Later she kept gravitating toward photos that felt more intimate.
We changed course, thus deciding to begin the session in the new home they recently purchased in Langley. It set the stage for a beautifully intimate in-home maternity session.
Tess and Daniel have such great style, I’d describe their home decor style as minimalist bohemian. The chemistry between them is really undeniable, so that translated amazing for their intimate in-home maternity session. Luckily, we could use the light streaming into their bedroom to create visually stunning images.
After we finished shooting the majority of the maternity photo session in their home, we took a short drive over to Tynehead Regional Park. There is a beautiful open field a short walk from the parking lot. Ultimately, we ended with the perfect amount of sunlight to finish out the session.
